Here’s me, aged about 6, on my trike. Not sure what it was (Raleigh?),  I do remember (having been told not to) riding at high speed into the garage (behind) which was made of thin asbestos sheets, completely demolishing the back wall --- oops!

The thing I recall most vividly however,  was dismantling it one day (purely out of mechanical interest) and subsequently watching it going along the street on the back of a dust cart!

I didn’t have another bike until I was fourteen-ish which was a Kerry (badged Puch?) 5 speed which I rode in top gear all the time. Later I had a ten speed from a second hand shop. Don’t recall much about this except for the ornate lugging and the quill stem. The ‘bug’ didn’t bite me until later - see The Stable.

Actually...

... it started a long time ago .
